European Money Week 2021 – Fourth National Competition EMQ – Greece

The Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) participates for a seventh consecutive year with relevant activities in the "European Money Week" of the European Banking Federation and for a third consecutive year in the "Global Money Week" of the OECD.

In this context, the fourth National Competition of the European Money Quiz was successfully completed yesterday, March 23rd. The competition was conducted online with 305 students personally participating among 27 schools from 15 Gymnasiums and 12 High Schools in Greece, coming from Athens, Chania Crete, Fthiotida, Kavala, Kozani, Larissa, Lasithi Crete, Lesbos, Pella and Thessaloniki.

For this year National Competition, we are in the pleasant position to announce two winners in the first place:

  • class C3 of Doukas School Gymnasium
  • class C of Stegas School Gymnasium,

followed by class A4 of High School “Pierce - American College of Greece” in the second place and class A4 of General High School Giannitson “Anna Komnini” in the third place.

The National Competition is only the first part of the joint initiative with the European Banking Federation concerning financial education programs for pupils aged 13-15 years old, as the two winner students of the schools that won the first place will represent their classes; schools and Greece in the European Money Quiz Competition, which will take place online on Tuesday 20 April 2021 in English language.

HBA will offer a laptop, as a personal reward, to the two students-Greek Champions. In addition, all four winning classes will also receive a PC for their schools.

HBA warmly thanks all the 27 schools, students and teachers for their participation in the national competition and the interest they have shown in this initiative especially overcoming the difficulties encountered due to measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

HBA aim is to make financial education possible and accessible even in the most remote areas of Greece. Thus, the EMQ dedicated website will remain active throughout the year so that the Games and the digital book “First Steps in Finance (Greek edition)” can be accessed by all, students, teachers and parents.
