European Money Week 2018 – National Competition EMQ 2018 – Greece

The Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) participates for a fourth consecutive year with relevant activities in the "European Money Week" of the European Banking Federation. 

In this context, the first National Competition for the European Money Quiz was successfully completed today. The competition was conducted online among 51 classes from 25 Gymnasiums in Greece, coming from Athens, Thessaloniki, Karditsa, Kilkis, Florina, Larissa, Mytilene, Lamia, Andros, Chalkida, Astro Kynourias, Pyrgos Ilias and Tripoli.

The winner was class C1 of Avgouleas-Linardatos Gymnasium in Athens, followed by class C3 of the 1st Gymnasium of Mytilene and the class C2 of the Avgouleas-Linardatos Gymnasium. The above classes not only answered correctly all 15 questions of the competition but also in the shortest time.

The National Competition is only the first part of the joint initiative with the European Banking Association concerning financial education programs for pupils aged 13-15 years old, as the winning class will represent its school and Greece in the European Money Quiz Competition, which will take place in Brussels on Tuesday 8 May 2018.

HBA warmly thanks all the schools, students and teachers for their participation in the national competition and the interest they have shown in this initiative. Significant was also the contribution of the relevant Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and the Junior Achievement Greece for disseminating the competition throughout the country.

HBA aim through this initiative, is to make financial education possible/accessible even in the most remote areas of Greece. Thus, the EMQ dedicated website www.hba.gr/info/emq will remain active throughout the year so that the Games can be accessed by all, students, teachers and parents.
